Out-of-School Examinees

Persons who have successfully completed all high school coursework, but still need to pass one or more state assessments in order to earn a diploma are considered out-of-school (OOS) examinees. Persons who are still in high school and are temporarily residing outside of their home district (e.g. during summer break) and wish to participate in a retest of a state assessment are considered out-of-district (OOD) examinees.

In Lake Worth ISD retests of state assessments are given at Lake Worth High School according to the schedule set forth by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) in the annual Student Assessment Testing Calendar. OOS and OOD examinees are welcome to retake appropriate state assessments at Lake Worth High School provided they preregister through the online registration site (see link below). OOS and OOD examinees who fail to preregister through the online site cannot be guaranteed an opportunity to participate in the test administration. Unregistered examinees will be accommodated on the day of the test on a first-come, first-served basis as long as adequate resources are available.

On the day(s) of testing, examinees should arrive at the test site 30 minutes before the designated testing time. Examinees must present picture identification, such as a driver's license, DPS ID, military ID, school ID, or resident alien card to test. Examinees will not be allowed to take the test(s) without a picture ID.

For the 2014-2015 school year, retests of state assessments are being offered on the following dates:

TAKS (Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills)

  • October 20 - 23, 2014

  • March 2 - 5, 2015

  • July 6 - 9, 2015

STAAR EOC (State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness End of Course)

  • December 1 - 5, 2014

  • March 30, 2015 (English I)

  • April 1, 2015 (English II)

  • May 4 - 8, 2015 (Algebra I, Biology, U.S. History)

  • July 6 - 10, 2015

To find dates for specific subject area assessments refer to the TEA Assessment Calendar (see link below).

Online registration for OOS TAKS opens approximately three months before each testing period and is available for approximately six weeks.

Because the TAAS (Texas Assessment of Academic Skills) has been phased out, examinees formerly under TAAS will now take the appropriate TAKS assessment to fulfill the testing requirement.
